Aldridge Fire

As most of you know one of Shelby County 4-H Horse-N-Around family’s house burned last weekend. The family consists of 5 children and 2 adults. The upper level of the home was destroyed while the basement was salvageable. The three oldest boys rooms were located in the basement, the majority of loss was the parents and the two youngest children. Thank God their was no one was injured during this fire!!!!!

Several of you have been calling and e-mailing asking what we can do. Michael was able to speak to Joshua today who said they are all currently staying with family and the support from the Red Cross and his employer, the school and the community has been amazing, they appreciate all the support they have received from everyone.

The Red Cross did put out the following sizes yesterday to the schools who are collecting things through youth services until this Friday.

Both boys were Men’s size 8 shoe
Need socks in either Men’s small or Boys XL
Underwear in Size 14

She also lost all toys, books, movies: She likes Disney, Early Lindsay Lohan Movies, parents request no Bratz dolls stuff.

The children also lost their school supplies, backpacks, notebooks, paper, pencils etcetera, The schools are gathering those items for the kids.

The schools are also collecting money until Friday to get dinning cards and Wal-Mart cards through youth services.

So after speaking to Joshua that they seem to have a lot of groups helping them out right now so the bigger concern will be once they are able to rebuild, household items , stuff like that keep in minds so when they are ready we can help during that part of the process. If our help is needed before then the Aldridges said they will let us know. I will also pass this on to Spencer County Saddle Club they had been asking how to help.

So what we will be doing as a group for 4-H is be there ready to do or help with whatever this family needs. This will probably be a little farther down the road. Of course continue to support through red cross and through the school for clothing donations this week. If I hear of another need that has not been put out I will let you know as soon as possible.

Thank You,
Jessica & Michael Woods
