4H Update
BANQUET
The banquet is coming together we have invited a few more businesses as I have received contacts. The awards have been ordered, We have had pulled pork donated as our meat so that will save the club some expense. We have had Dr Fernanda Camargo-Stutman, DVM, Ph. D agree to come to be our key note speaker. We have had a few door prizes donated, if anyone else can get any door prizes let me know. Also, if anyone knows any business who would donate drinks that would save the club some money. This banquet is for last year’s activities, if you are new to the club you are welcome to attend to support last
years members. Here is a link to RSVP or if you need to change the number of people you are bringing. Parents, siblings, grandparents are encouraged to attend. So far we have 73 people attending, so it should be a fun night. Please start e-mailing me any 4H photos you have from last year so we can have them up on the screen. I still need some volunteers to help decorate, set up, and work in the kitchen.

First Tuesday of the month meeting/Cloverbuds
Last year our club reserved the extent ion office twice a month so we had access to the building more often. They get booked up quickly. We had a couple of thoughts when Michael did this, first most of the other counties in 4-H meet twice a month, we were talking about starting cloverbuds, and we were starting new teams.
We decided not to use it for cloverbuds because it defeats the purpose of starting cloverbuds. The idea was to give the younger kids something to do when they were attending 4H practices with their older siblings, not to have the
parents bring them out at an additional time. So once I get the Cloverbuds program together (which has kind have been on the back burner with everything else going on) My idea is that we have a project or activity for them at the same time as the older kids, and that they can feel a part of the club at our meetings and events. Right now we only have 3 cloverbuds, if any one is
interested in starting this project or have any ideas let me know.
We decided to use the first Tuesday of the month to start as “Team Meetings and or Clinics” All four teams would meet with their coaches. This gives us an extra opportunity to get together during the winter to make team decisions, Jeff will be able to work on drills on the board, the kids would have a
chance to work on the music and costumes. The Horse Bowl Team would be able to meet and get any new reference material, trade books, ect. (I am working on a grant to purchase the books needed for horse-bowl so we have our own set).
The endurance/mounted games team would be able to go over all the stuff that will go along with being part of a pilot, rule suggestions, introduce new games, video ect. This would not be a “business meeting’ like we are used to. However it does give us an additional fortuity if we need to vote on something, as long as everyone is notified 24 hours in advance we will be voting on
for instance “sending flowers to a sick club member” as long as 2/3 of the club (a quorum) is in attendance we could vote without waiting for the next meeting. Hopefully this will make our business meetings shorter like it was in September. We did put on the ca lander that was handed out that October 7th
we would be having our first team meeting for horsebowl, mounted games, drill team would not be meeting since Coach Radcliff is out of town. We have three family’s out of town, who will also be out of town for the first Mounted games practice. If most parents think we should cancel the 7th meeting let me
know.
MOUNTED GAMES
Last Saturday our family and the McCarthy’s went to Red Orchard to watch the mounted games. It looked like a lot of fun Kelsey, Kim, Rachel, Sherry, and Jake participated. Congratulations to Sherry, Jake, Rachel and Kim for taking first place in the novice division.
This week I contacted the UMGA (United Mounted Games Association) they are the group that brought the idea to 4-H. With the help of Dr Stutman they have agreed to have their coaches meet with Michael tomorrow to go over what we
will need to do to get started. They also will be sending coaches, and all the equipment we need to John & Cyndi’s this Sunday at 3:00 PM and are going to show us how to make our own, and help get us started.
Please remember helmets, and current coggins if I don’t already have up to date coggins on your horse. Parents you might want to bring chairs. I have attached a calendar for anyone who doesn’t have one.
Thanks,
Michael and Jessica
